The Popular Show Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the group reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
